General Specifications
Kan-Go-Roo Playgrounds Ltd. is a Canadian manufacturer and distributor of playground equipment. The products that Kan-Go-Roo manufactures are designed and built with quality and safety in mind. The following specifications will give one an understanding of what general materials are used in the manufacturing of its quality playground equipment.
Playground Equipment Design
CAN/CSA-Z614-07 Children’s PlaySpaces and Equipment
Products manufactured and designed under ISO 9001 (2000)
ASTM Standard: D-1248 type 2, class A, cat. 3 and LP-390 type 1, cl. M, cat.2
Welded Components
Welded components are Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certified under CSA standards W47.1 Div. 2.1 and W47.2 Div. 2.1.)
Deck
Decks are fabricated from steel plate and expended metals.
After being welded together, it shall be dipped in a textured
vinyl chloride to give a rubber finish. Square deck: 48”(1219 mm) x 48” (1219 mm).
Plastisol Coating
Vinyl Plastisol (rubber finish) UV Resistant 90 to 125 mils
Hardware and Fasteners
All hardware and fasteners are treated to resist corrosion; Hardware is hot-dip galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum or zinc plated. Hardware and fasteners are tamper resistant unless otherwise specified. All necessary hardware and
fasteners are provided.
Plastic
All plastic components are made with a polyethylene plastic
and treated with ultra violet stabilizer. All components shall meet standard ASTM 1248, type 2, class A, category3, and federal specifications LP-390 type 1, class M, grade 2. Color shall be integral, not applied.
Caps
Aluminium. Pop Rivet – Permanently installed.

Metal Preparation for Powder Coat Paint Finish
Metal preparation for powder coat paint finish consists of either a multiple shower system including a rust-prohibitive iron phosphate wash or sandblasting. Parts are free of excess weld splatter.
KGR Powder Coated Finish
Polyester dry powder-coating is electro¬statically applied and oven cured at 392°F (200°C) for 10 minutes. Finished membrane is 3-5 mil (0.076-0.127mm) and includes additives for resistance to ultraviolet (U.V.) degradation. The powder coating paint is also lead and cadmium free. Finished membrane complies with the follow¬ing performance standards:

Components Attachments
Kan-Go-ROo uses a combination of both clamp and
clamp free on there playground equipment.
Clamp System:
Superior quality clamp system. Cast aluminum clamps
are clamped to the 3 ½” upper posts.

Bolt-through system.
Components are bolted directly to the 3 ½“ upper
posts, and separated with a plastic spacer that reduces
friction between the components and the post.

Installation Method:
There are two types of installation methods available
with Kan-Go-Roo structures and equipment.
Concrete installation or freestanding installation,
for more information please reviews our installation
method guide.

Steel Components
Steel tube components comply with ASTM standards A-500 or
A-513. All other steel is zinc-coated, hot-dipped galvanized,
Plastisol-coated, or powder-coat painted, as specified.
Uprights
Outer surfaces are zinc-plated and inner surfaces are treated to
resist corrosion. All posts are powder-coat painted.

NOW AVAILABLE on Special Order Only 5” Post
There have been a few issues concerning the diameter of
playground posts and what is the best 3.5” or 5” posts.
In many ways they are the same thing. According to the
Allied steel chart (available upon demand) both the 3.5”
post and the 5” post have the same strength (45,000 psi
yield/48,000 psi tensile)
The strength and durability of metal largely depends on
the quality of material, a playground post could have a
diameter of 8” however one must rely upon the typical
mechanical properties of the material. Therefore in the
case of Kan-Go-Roo Playground using 3.5” post, this is
merely done for aesthetics purposes, as well as economic.
Limiting unnecessary tubing reduces inventory and the
cost of storing needles tubing which is a saving that can be
pasted on to our customer.
The fact of the matter is children do not care if a post is
3.5” or 5”, as long as they can feel safe and secure on the
structure.
I bet if we think back to when we were kids we
would rather have an extra play component then have 1 ½
inches of steel tubing
